Roof modules

KOSTAL roof modules serve as a gateway for communication between the driver and vehicle sub-systems. Sensor signals for applications as varied as mirror adjustment and rain sensing, are processed in the roof module. Functions handled by KOSTAL roof modules include:

• tilting/sliding sunroof, with pinch-protection
• dazzle-free reading and ambient light
• integrated monitoring of the passenger compartment
• evaluation of windscreen sensor signals

Rain / light sensor

Integrated KOSTAL rain / light sensors provide fully automatic control of the windscreen wipers and will switch the headlights on and off, depending on ambient conditions. Local requirements in different markets are covered by customer-specific parametering.

New generation

In the current generation of products, the introduction of innovative optical concepts and in-depth development of electronics and software result in greater functional improvements. At the same time this permits the optional integration of additional sensor functions such as solar sensors and rain sensors.

The future

New designs will combine optimum-cost assembly structures and fitment space compatibility with camera-based driver-assistance systems. It will be possible to select any combination of functions from a comprehensive portfolio of devices.
