Smart. Communicative. Independent.

Greater independence, lower energy costs: Solar power with the PIKO inverter and energy storage system

Cheap electricity without being dependent on energy suppliers, and environmentally friendly, too – is that even possible? We think so. That is why we have developed a battery inverter with which you can generate and temporarily store your own electricity and even feed electricity back into the electricity grid when required. With this, you can already achieve a degree of self-sufficiency of up to 80% right now.

Unabhängig und flexibel mit dem PIKO BA

Your independent and flexible usage options

With the PIKO BA system, you can produce and use your own electricity around the clock. You thus determine your own electricity price for the next 20 years. The PIKO BA system was specially developed for the requirements of single-family dwellings. Here, system powers of between 4 and 11 kWp are ideal. Furthermore, the different storage system sizes enable tailor-made solutions adapted to your requirements. This applies to both south-facing and east-west systems. The PIKO BA system offers you maximum flexibility thanks to its two individually tracked inputs and ensures optimum energy yields. With this, you can already achieve a degree of self-sufficiency of up to 80% right now.

Your smart energy organisation

Your own power, produced and stored throughout the day, enables you to watch television or cook at any time without purchasing extra electricity. The smart energy management system of the PIKO BA, together with the PIKO BA Sensor, can react automatically and without a loss of convenience to the different requirements in your household. You have a guaranteed supply of electricity at all times under the premise of maximum self-consumption.

Get to know the energy flows within your household better. The two KOSTAL tools - the PIKO Solar App and the PIKO Solar Portal - will help you with this. Both illustrate the amount of energy available and the level of your electricity consumption and self-consumption. You can use your household appliances when solar power is available, thus optimizing your self-consumption.

Your communication options

Along with the seamless monitoring of your storage system and thus the safeguarding of your investment in the future, the PIKO BA System supports you in the development of your Smart Home. With the EEBus* networking technology, your household appliances can communicate with one another regardless of manufacturer and can be controlled automatically. Energy is thus used efficiently.

Safety is our priority

PIKO Speicherwechselrichter
The safety concepts of the two battery systems are of the highest quality. The PIKO BA System Li in particular fully satisfies the highest safety standards for lithium domestic storage systems and as a result was awarded the ees AWARD in 2015. During the development of this system, KOSTAL was able to capitalize on the years of experience gathered in the automotive industry in the field of safety-focused sensor technology.

How photovoltaics work

SmartHome - kinderleicht
  • How is electricity generated from sunlight? This is achieved via a photovoltaic system.
The word “photo” stems from the Greek language and means “light”.
  • A solar module is a dark plate which is attached to the household roof. It has a large number of small sections which are known as solar cells. These are approximately the size of the palm of your hand.
The rays of the sun hit the solar module and the cells contained therein then generate the electricity. This type of electricity is known as direct current.
  • This direct current now flows into the PIKO inverter and this in turn converts the direct current into alternating current. This is necessary because the appliances in your household only work with alternating current.
  • First of all, the alternating current flows into the feed meter, in order that we know how much electricity we have generated.
  • The electricity is fed into the home network in order for us to be able to use this electricity, for example by drawing it from the plug sockets.
  • We can use the electricity generated to supply all types of household appliances with energy and, for example, use our washing machine, watch TV or charge our electric vehicle.
  • If we use less electricity than the sun has supplied at any time, we can use the excess to charge the PIKO battery. This means that we can also use the electricity at night, when the sun is no longer shining.
  • If we produce more electricity than we need at any time, we can, of course, also feed the excess into the public grid. In this way, other people can also use this environmentally friendly electricity - and normally, you will even receive some money for this.
